Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 August 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By creating an account or using Jobivo ("the platform"), operated by Jobivo Digital Services Limited, a company incorporated in Nigeria (RC 9697026), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These Terms apply to all users — customers, service providers (individuals and companies), and visitors.

2. The Platform

Jobivo is a marketplace that connects customers who need services with identity-verified service providers who offer those services. We are an intermediary — we do not employ service providers, and we do not directly provide any of the services listed on the platform ourselves.

The contract for services is between the customer and the service provider. Jobivo facilitates the booking process, payment arrangements, and dispute resolution.

Independent Contractor Status: All service providers on Jobivo are independent contractors, not employees, agents, or partners of Jobivo. Jobivo does not supervise, direct, or control the manner in which service providers perform their services. Jobivo is not liable for the acts, omissions, or conduct of any service provider.

Scope of Verification: “Verified”, “KYC Verified”, and similar badges mean only that the service provider's identity has been checked against official records (NIN/BVN and a face selfie). Verification is NOT a test, certification, or endorsement of any service provider's skills, qualifications, licences, or the quality of their work. Customers are responsible for assessing a service provider's suitability — using reviews, completed-job history, portfolios, and their own judgement — before hiring.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the platform
  • You must be legally capable of entering contracts under Nigerian law
  • One person may not operate multiple accounts
  • Suspended or banned accounts may not be re-created

4. Customer Obligations

  • Provide accurate information when booking a service
  • Pay as agreed at booking — through the platform, or settled directly with the service provider on direct-pay bookings
  • Pay the service provider promptly, on the terms you agreed with them
  • Raise disputes within 72 hours of a job being marked complete
  • Treat service providers with respect and not harass or threaten them
  • Leave honest, accurate reviews based on your genuine experience

5. Service Provider Obligations

  • Complete KYC verification before accepting bookings
  • Represent your skills, qualifications, and availability honestly
  • Show up for booked jobs on time or communicate in advance if unable to
  • Honour the payment terms you agreed with the customer at booking
  • Invoice, collect and refund your own fees — Jobivo does not do this for you
  • Behave courteously and comply with all relevant safety and industry standards
  • Do not subcontract jobs without the customer's knowledge and written consent
  • Obtain any licences, permits, or insurance required by Nigerian law for your trade

6. Payments — Jobivo Does Not Hold Your Money

Jobivo does not hold funds belonging to customers or service providers. You may settle with a service provider directly, or pay by card through Jobivo. If you pay by card, the payment is processed by Paystack and split at the moment it is made: the service provider's share settles into their own Paystack subaccount and their own bank account. It does not pass through, and is never held in, any Jobivo account, and Jobivo does not receive it on the service provider's behalf. Jobivo operates no wallet and no stored balance. Because Jobivo holds nothing, it cannot withhold, release, or reverse a service provider's payment.

Jobivo takes no commission from service providers — they receive the full amount agreed with the customer. Jobivo's only revenue is Premium and Business subscription plans, which are charged to the service provider for use of the platform. Any change to those fees will be displayed before it applies.

Refunds are arranged directly between the customer and the service provider who was paid. Jobivo cannot issue a refund, because it never received the money.

7. Service Provider Subscriptions and Non-Payment

This section applies to service providers on a paid plan. It does not affect customers, and it has nothing to do with money paid by a customer for a job — that never passes through Jobivo (see section 6).

Premium and Business plans are charged monthly in advance to the card on file. You may cancel at any time from Billing; cancelling stops the next charge and you keep your plan until the end of the period already paid for.

If a renewal payment fails, your plan is not cancelled straight away. We tell you by email and WhatsApp, and the card is retried. Your paid features continue for 14 days from the first failed attempt.

If payment has still not succeeded after those 14 days, your paid features are paused — the monthly booking limit of the free plan applies again, and quote requests, the calendar and team accounts stop working. Your account, profile, reviews, history and any bookings already accepted are unaffected, and your subscription stays open: adding a working card restores everything immediately, with no need to re-subscribe.

If the card is never successfully charged, the subscription ends and the account moves to the free Starter plan. You can subscribe again at any time.

Jobivo does not charge a late fee, and does not pursue unpaid subscription amounts for a period during which the features were paused.

8. Cancellation

Booking is free, and no money is taken when you book. What happens on a cancellation therefore depends on one thing only: whether you have already paid.

  • If you have not paid: you may cancel at any time before the job starts, from your booking page, at no cost. The service provider is notified automatically.
  • If you have already paid: the money reached the service provider at the moment you paid, so Jobivo cannot return it — any refund is a matter between you and them. Contact them through the booking page and agree what is fair. Most providers will refund a cancellation made in good time.
  • Late cancellations: Jobivo charges no cancellation fee and cannot deduct one. A service provider who has turned work away may reasonably ask to keep part of what you paid; that is for the two of you to settle.
  • If the service provider does not show up: report it from the booking page within 72 hours. Jobivo will investigate, ask both sides for evidence, and act on the provider's standing on the platform, up to removing them. Jobivo cannot refund you, but it can and does act on repeat offenders. You may also contact support@jobivo.ng.

This section previously promised full and partial refunds issued by Jobivo. It could not honour them: Jobivo holds no funds, as set out in section 6. Deciding when to pay is therefore the real protection — you are never required to pay before the work is done.

9. Dispute Resolution

If a customer and service provider cannot agree on the outcome of a job, either party may raise a dispute on the booking page within 72 hours of the job being marked complete.

Jobivo's trust and safety team will review the evidence submitted by both parties — including completion notes, photos, and communications — and issue a decision within 3 business days. Jobivo holds no funds, so a dispute does not freeze any money; the decision records what we found and may affect a party's standing on the platform.

Jobivo's finding concludes the platform's own process and determines what action it takes on an account; it does not move money and does not limit your legal rights. By using the platform, you agree to accept this outcome. Jobivo's role in disputes is that of a neutral mediator; we do not guarantee any particular outcome.

10. Chargebacks and Card Disputes

A chargeback is when you ask your bank or card issuer to reverse a payment. It is a different route from the dispute process in section 9, and it is not the faster one — a bank can take weeks or months to decide, and it cannot tell your side of the story for you.

If something went wrong with a job, raise it on the booking page first. Jobivo can reach the service provider, put the evidence in front of both of you, and act on their standing on the platform. If you have already paid, the provider is the only party who can return the money — see sections 6 and 7.

If you do raise a chargeback, Jobivo will respond to the bank with the record it holds: the booking, what was agreed, the messages between you and the service provider, and any completion evidence. We will tell the service provider that a chargeback has been raised against their job.

Who bears the cost. Because a card payment splits at the moment it is made, the service provider already has their share. A bank does not recover a chargeback from them — it recovers it from Jobivo, along with any fee the card scheme charges. Where a chargeback on a service provider's job is upheld, that service provider must reimburse Jobivo the amount recovered plus any chargeback fee, on demand. Until they do, Jobivo may suspend their account, remove their listing, and decline to accept further bookings for them. By offering services on Jobivo, service providers accept this.

Raising a chargeback for a service you received as agreed — sometimes called friendly fraud — is a breach of these Terms under section 11 and will result in the loss of your account. Nothing here affects your legal rights against your bank or card issuer.

11. Prohibited Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on Jobivo:

  • Impersonating another person or submitting false KYC documents
  • Taking payment off-platform in order to dodge these Terms, reviews, or the dispute process — settling directly with a service provider is itself allowed, and is described in section 6
  • Posting false, misleading, or manipulated reviews
  • Threatening, harassing, or discriminating against any user
  • Using the platform for illegal activities under Nigerian law
  • Attempting to circumvent or reverse-engineer the platform
  • Creating multiple accounts to game the review or rating system
  • Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform

12. Account Suspension, Termination and Appeals

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraud, endangers another user's safety, or receives consistent justified complaints. Jobivo holds no earnings, so a suspension does not withhold money already paid to a service provider; what it removes is their access to the platform and to future bookings. We will provide notice where practicable but are not obligated to do so for severe violations.

Appealing a suspension: If you believe your account was suspended in error, you may appeal within 14 days of receiving the suspension notice by emailing support@jobivo.ng with the subject line "Account Appeal — [your registered email]". Include your account details and the reasons you believe the suspension was incorrect.

We will review your appeal within 5 business days and respond with our decision. Appeals decisions are final. Accounts suspended for fraud, identity falsification, or safety violations are not eligible for appeal.

13. Limitation of Liability

Jobivo is a marketplace and is not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or timeliness of the work carried out on the platform. We do not warrant or guarantee that any service provider will complete a job to your satisfaction, and we make no representations about any service provider's skill or workmanship. All service providers are independent contractors. Tools like identity verification, reviews, and dispute mediation are provided to reduce risk — they are not a guarantee of outcomes.

Jobivo is not liable for any loss, damage (including property damage or personal injury), or dispute arising from the conduct of service providers or customers, whether on or off the platform, except where liability cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.

To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Jobivo's total liability to any user in connection with the platform shall not exceed the total amount paid by that user to Jobivo in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Intellectual Property

All content on Jobivo — including the logo, design, code, and written content — is the property of Jobivo and may not be reproduced without written permission. User-generated content (reviews, profile photos, bios) remains the property of the user but you grant Jobivo a licence to display it on the platform.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by email and by displaying a notice on the platform. Continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance.
